Administration

Dear Lee County Middle School East Community,

My name is Rhett Grant, and I am excited to start another year as the principal of Lee County Middle School East! I am from Cullman, Alabama, where I graduated from Cullman High School in 1996. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at Jacksonville State University, a Master of Education from Georgia College and State University, and a Specialist of Educational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University.

I began my teaching career in 2001. Teaching in Lee County has been a pleasure since 2009, when I started teaching at Lee County Middle School. In 2014 I was named Assistant Principal of Lee County Middle School East. I have 20 years of experience in education and have worked with middle-school-age children for 17 of my 20 years. My beautiful wife, Lindsay, and I are both educators. Lindsay is a first-grade teacher at Lee County Primary School. We are blessed with two beautiful children, Ramsey and Gadsden.

At LCMS-E, we strive to provide the highest quality education possible for our students so that when they leave, they are ready to compete and succeed in high school and the real world. We accomplish this by providing engaging learning experiences and rigorous instruction.

The success of our students relies on a strong partnership between parents, school, and community. Parents are always welcomed at LCMS-E and encouraged to participate in their student’s education. Together we can help our students be successful!

I am so excited to be a part of the staff for Lee County Middle School East! I am very passionate about achievement and have no problem recognizing hard-working staff and students. School culture and pride are very important to me because they both influence and prepare our faculty and students for an ever-competitive world. Building relationships and responsibility are also essential as I desire to foster the growth of our students and partnerships with community members.

I’m a new resident of Lee County with my lovely wife, Latashi, and our blessed two children, Azuri-Rose and Daniel Laster II.

I have been a professional in education for 13  years.  I have served grades Pre-K to 12th grade, along with various leadership opportunities.  My Education includes a bachelor’s degree in Music Education (Voice) and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from “The Unsinkable” Albany State University.

My goal is to ignite a fire to focus on Respect, Unity, Achievement, and Fun to continue to make Lee County Middle School East “The Beast!”
