Academics & Curriculum

Welcome to Lee County Middle School East Campus. We hope that the school webpage will provide you with all the information you need regarding the school.

Lee County Middle School was originally designated as a Lighthouse School to Watch in 2007. Since that time, the school has applied for and was awarded re-designation as a School to Watch in 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019. We are proud of this honor and welcome visitors to our campus to learn more about the Lighthouse School to Watch program.

Career advisory and social and emotional learning for students are both a vital part of the middle school concept. All students participate in classroom guidance using Georgia Career Information System, which gives them the opportunity to explore future education and career options. All students also participate in grade-specific career education and career expos during the school year. Mindset Monday time, held for thirty minutes each Monday, is used to implement the 7 Mindsets program for social and emotional learning with all students. The 7 Mindsets program combines elements of relationship-based teaching and social-emotional learning. The age-appropriate curriculum for middle schools is a transformational program that has been established in twenty-two states across the country.

The curriculum at Lee County Middle School East Campus is driven by the Georgia Standards of Excellence. These standards inform instruction, learning, and assessment (both formal and informal). You can visit http://www.gadoe.org/Pages/Home.aspx to learn more about the standards for each academic discipline.

Advisement groups are a part of the middle school concept. All certified personnel are assigned a group of about fifteen students with whom they meet at least once a month. The advisement curriculum focuses on activities and discussions pertinent to the developmental level of middle school students and uses GAcollege411 to guide the advisement activities. Visit www.GAcollege411.org to learn more about the middle school advisement curriculum.

PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) is also a major component of the middle school concept, with a focus on a school wide discipline approach. To learn about our PBIS plan and activities, see the PBIS page.
